This film course will focus on Joel and Ethan Coen, who are two of the most acclaimed directors of all-time. Their movies are offbeat, idiosyncratic, visually striking and visceral and sometimes brutal, labyrinthine in their construction yet deeply human and endlessly quotable. The brothers have tackled every imaginable genre, from westerns to screwball comedies to musicals to gangster films, infusing each with their unique, off-kilter sensibilities. The class covers six of their greatest films with strong Jewish themes.
Offered on Zoom direct from New York City by Jordan Osterer who has an MA in Film from Columbia University, and a BA with a minor in Jewish Canadian Studies from the University of Ottawa.
Every second Wednesday at 3:00 pm from March 5 until May 14
